INSPIRED BY THE NATURAL FORMS
The Tapia Contact Shaper is an innovative, molar-form-inspired matrix burnisher and composite plugger. The tip design improves matrix burnishing in posterior restorations by shaping contacts that closely follow natural tooth anatomy. Instrument functions both as a matrix burnisher and a composite plugger allowing to shape the matrix and adapt composite with one instrument.
The instrument is developed in cooperation with Dr. Javier Tapia, international lecturer and co-founder of the Bio-Emulation™ Group.
Natural contacts. Anatomical shapes. Better results.

- Instrument creates natural proximal contact shapes while it burnishes the matrix into a contact area
- The molar‑inspired curvature of the instrument tip applies controlled, broad surface pressure to the matrix, creating a contact shape that closely follows natural tooth anatomy
- Broad, tooth‑inspired curvature tip design prevents point‑like contact shapes
- By adapting to the natural contour of the tooth, the instrument helps maintain consistent thickness along the proximal wall, reducing over‑ or under‑contouring compared to round or flat alternatives
- Instrument allows gentle placement and adaptation of composite material while the instrument supports predictable contact formation, uniform wall thickness, and greater control in even small cavities
- The curved working end makes it easier to model concave dentin surfaces during bilaminar restorations, creating a controlled foundation before enamel buildup
